Connecting to the internet on PS3?

I have a wireless only connection, using a Linksys WRT54G router. After disabling the Media Server Connection, the PS3 connects all the time now, as it only did some of the time before. Since it can now connect properly, I have been trying to download the latest update. When I first set up my PS3,(without changing default settings) the dowload got to 20% and then received an error code. I recently began downloading the update again, with the setting changed, and it seemed to go much faster than before. It got to about 42% and received the error 80710723 again. Why is it doing this after connecting successfuly, and progressing so far into the download? I’ve been trying to download it again, but it’s back at the slow speed it was before. Any help?

  1. Mine does this too sometimes. You most likely have a connection interference which can be caused microwaves, telephones, really anything like that. When you’re doing an update, you might want to unplug your microwave and telephone, and turn your cellphone off. Also, you might be getting an interference from a neighbor’s connection. Is your router encrypted with a WEP password?

  2. don’t download on your ps3 anymore. buy a flash disk create a PS3 folder on it and in the PS3 folder create an UPDATE folder on it. (it has to be in all capital letters)

    then go to:

    [url is not allowed].

download the update then when its done transfer it onto the flash disk in the UPDATE folder you created then plug flash disk into ps3 go to settings then update settings then choose flash disk (USB Storage device)

its a faster easier way to update in my opinion.

    hope this helped you out!:D
